Our Mission

To provide opportunities for county residents of all ages and abilities to learn about and explore Richland County's natural history.

Our Vision

To provide recreational and educational opportunities, preserve natural areas, and establish public parks and trails throughout the county.


The Richland County Park District is responsible for restoring and maintaining the ecological integrity of RCPD owned grassland, prairie, wetland, and woodland habitats.  We provide the following services to the community:

  • Ample recreational opportunities via the Richland B&O Bike Trail, Gorman Nature Center, Fleming Falls, and other RCPD owned parks/preserves
  • A variety of free educational programming that includes but is not limited to pre-school children, K-12 aged children, post-secondary, professional development for educators, home schoolers, and Boy & Girl Scouts
  • Free year-round public programming covering a wide variety of Ohio and Richland County wildlife and natural history related topics
  • Festivals highlighting various Ohio and Richland County wildlife and natural history topics such as our Reptile & Amphibian Festival, Rock & Fossil Day Festival, & Pollinator Festival
  • Workshops on a variety of Ohio wildlife and natural history related topics
  • Community outreach programs collaborating with various local agencies, businesses, and schools to raise awareness and promote RCPD services
